Poland: 10th title for ZAKSA! Jastrzebski destroyed in Game 4
4 min read
Despite the heavy absence of middle-blocker Huber (during the National Anthem all ZAKSA’s player wore his jersey No.99), ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle literally trample over Jastrzebski Wegiel on the road in only three sets (23:25, 17:25, 21:25) in 2021/22 Plusliga playoffs final Game 4 to close the series 3-1, celebrating themselves national champions for 10th time in club’s history.
Another bad day for Fornal against ZAKSA (only 3 points, 11% efficiency in attack and replaced in second set), but today struggled a lot also opposites Hadrava (5 points, 38% and only 8% efficiency in attack) and Boyer (5 points too, 50% and 20% efficiency in attack). The sole Szymura, who ended the game with 15 points, 71% and 59% efficiency in attack and 3 aces), started from the bench, wasn’t enough to fight against Semeniuk (MVP of the game with 19 points, 68% and 59% efficiency in attack, 3 blocks and 1 ace), Sliwka (15 points, 67% and 52% efficiency in attack) and the other ZAKSA’s players. Not an excellent day for Kaczmarek, only 2/8 in attack).
Either way, all numbers speak in favor of the winners: 7 vs. 0 winning blocks, 6 aces and 9 errors against 4 aces and 15 errors.
A better start for the hosts in first set, who open with a counterattack by Gladyr, and then the errors of Clevenot (2-3) and
Semeniuk (4-3). With Hadravaâs serve come another counterattack by Gladyr (5-3), and then Jastrzebski take a conspicuous lead with a counterattack by Fornal for the 7-4. ZAKSA shorten with a counterattack by Semeniuk (9-8) and then start to play hard with Smith from the service line: ace that level the score, 10-10, slash by Rejno (10-11) and Kaczmarekâs block on Clevenot (10-12). Then Semeniuk blocks Hadrava for the 11-14, and Sliwka put down the ball of 11-15. Clevenotâs counterattack of 13-15 and an error by Sliwka for the 17-18 reopen the set, but ZAKSA defend an attack from the second line by Fornal and back to +3 with Semeniuk: 18-21. Szymura on the field in serves in place of Wisniewski is worth a free ball closed by Clevenot, 20-21, and an error by Sliwka level the score, 23-23, but Kaczmarek put down the set point of 23-24, and Fornal attacks into the net: 23-25.
Sliwka opens second set with an ace, but
Kaczmarek attacks out the ball of 3-2. Janusâ block on give the lead of ZAKSA, who take advantage with the same Janus from the service line: slash by Sliwka on an error in reception (6-8), counterattacks by
Smith (6-9) and Sliwka (6-10), block by Kaczmarek on Fornal (6-11), replaced by Szymura, and an error by Gladyr (6-12) replaced by Macyra. After having suffered the block of 9-16, also Hadrava ends to the bench in this set to forget for Jastrzebski, who cash also Sliwkaâs counterattack for the 10-18. It ends 17-25, with an attack by Semeniuk.
In third set break point ZAKSA with a counterattack by Rejno (0-2). Szymura try a desperate attempt to reopen the game with 2 aces (4-4 and 5-4), and Sliwka misses the ball of 8-6. Semeniuk level the score taking advantage from half point in serving by Smith, and itâs 9-9, while Janusz blocks Szymura: 10-11. Szymura redeems himself with the counterattack of 12-11, but Semeniuk scores the ace on Clevenot that means a new lead: 12-13. Szymura, absolutely the best among the hosts, scores the ace of 14-13, but ZAKSA reply with the defense on Clevenot, a counterattack by Sliwka (14-15) and then with the ace by Kaczmarek (18-20). Szymuraâs counterattack is out, 20-22, and Reino make an ace on Popiwczak (20-23), and Hadrava attacks out the ball of 20-24. Set, match and season is close by an error by Gladyr from the service line: 21-25.
