WCH 2022: Brazil defeat Argentina in four sets – this is semifinal!
2 min read
Brazil beat Argentina and went to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball World Championship for the 7th time in row!
On their way to the semi-finals of the competition, Brazil overcame Argentina in the South American classic in four sets in Gliwice, Poland. Partially, it was 25:16, 23:25, 25:22, and 25:21.
Just over a year after losing the bronze medal match at the Tokyo Olympics, Renan Dal Zotto’s side took revenge on Argentina to guarantee themselves a spot among the four best in the competition for the seventh time in a row (in fact, they are regular World Champs semi-finalists since 1998) in search of their fourth title!
Yoandy Leal stood out on the winning side with 25 points, probably making his best appearance in the national team jersey. He spiked 22 at a success rate of 65% and added two aces and a winning block, and ended the game as absolute top-scorer, followed by opposites Wallace De Souza of Brazil and Bruno Lima of Argentina with 13 points each.
Brazil will face in the semis on Saturday in Katowice Poland, who defeated United States in a thrilling tie break in second match of the day.
