Italian SuperCup: Lube down Modena, Perugia fly to final after a thrilling tie-break vs Trentino

Cucine Lube Civitanova and Sir Safety Susa Perugia have returned to the Italian Volleyball Super Cup final after two years after being both eliminated in the semifinals last season.

Respecting the predictions, Cucine Lube Civitanova became the first finalist in the Del Monte® Supercoppa 2022.
Gianlorenzo Blengini’s side down Valsa Group Modena by a sharp 3-0 (25:23, 25:23, 25:20) despite the absence of Ivan Zaytsev and Marlon Yant. Thus, the Italian champions repeated their dominance over the same rivals of October 16, albeit with an extra dose of effort.
The Puerto Rican-American opposite Gabi García top-scored the winning side with 15 points.

Sir Safety Susa Perugia beat Itas Trentino 3-2 (23:25, 25:17, 25:22, 22:25, 15:7) in the second semi-final and scheduled a decider for the trophy with Cucine Lube Civitanova.
It was truly a high-level duel that rightly saw its end in the tie-break following five very balanced and hard fought sets.
Angelo Lorenzetti’s guys started better and won the first set, but then had to chase the rival to force the tie-break, in which they had no chance.
Kamil Semeniuk was probably the man of the match scoring 20 points incliding 4 aces for Perugia, who excelled in blocking with 18 points from this element, six of these were made by middle blocker Roberto Russo.
