Austria: Amstetten defeat Hartberg. Aich/Dob down titleholders Waldviertel in four sets

First two games of Austrian Volley League 2022/23 Round 5 were played today.

SK Zadruga Aich/Dob inflicted the first seasonal defeat to defending champions Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel, who succumbed in four sets (22:25, 25:20, 25:14, 25:23) at Jufa Arena in Bleiburg.
For the winners this was the third victory in four days after two successes MEVZA League.
Top scorers of the day were Anastasios Aspiotis, who ended the game with 27 points, and Redi Bakiri and Filip Madjunkov (14 each), for Aich/Dob, while Marek Meciar (18) and Koendert Daan Streutker (10) on the other side of the net.

In the second game of the day, third-placed VCA Amstetten NÖ defeated TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg (5th) with the same result (3-1, partially 25:22, 18:25, 25:19 and 25:19). For the winners this was the fourth win in 2022/23 season. Top scorers in the Johann-Pölz-Halle were Michael Czerwinski (21) and Jakub Czyzowski (16) for Amstetten, and Florian Gaar and Dorde Knezevic with 21 each on the other side.

After three 3-0 defeats in a row, UVC Graz hopes to redeem themselves on Sunday. They will face at home Hypo Tirol volleyball team, at this moment at second place in the current charts. Always tomorrow, VBC TLC Weiz will face at home VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt, and this will be a very interesting game, as both sides are still looking for their first win!
