Belogorie Belgorod won on the field of Kuzbass Kemerovo – 2-3 (25:18, 18:25, 25:14, 21:25, 10:15), Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeat at home Gazprom-Yugra Surgut 3-2 (25:17, 23:25, 25:14, 24:26, 15:11), Yenisei Krasnoyarsk down Nova Novokuybyshevsk on the road 2-3 (25:27, 25:18, 25:22, 19:25, 13:15) while Neftyanik Orenburg won on the field of Stroitel Minsk 2-3 (17:25, 25:23, 27:25, 22:25, 10:15).

Ural entered the competition reinforced like rarely in the near past, however, on paper, they weren’t among the favorites for medals. To prove everyone wrong, they side made a run of eight consecutive wins, which was interrupted today by the titleholders, 3-0 (25:16, 29:27, 25:13). The team from the country’s capital swept the rivals and extended their own winning streak, now consisting of eight matches. At the same time, they increased their advantage over Ural in the standings: they’re third with 32 points, six more than the fourth-placed Ural. Dinamo continued to pursue the leading duo of Zenits, sittings two and three points behind them. Bulgarian Tsvetan Sokolov top-scored Dinamo with 19 points today, while Roman Potalyuk notched 11 on the other side of the net.

Three points also for Dynamo-LO, 3-0 (25:13, 25:21, 25:15) over Yugra-Samotlor Nizhnevartovsk, Zenit Kazan, 3-0 25:23, 25:15, 25:12) over Fakel Novy Urengoy, and Zenit St. Petersburg, who defeated ASK Nizhny Novgorod by 3-1 (23:25, 25:15, 25:21, 25:16).
