Poland: Tie break win for Aluron and Olsztyn (who down ZAKSA!) Jastrzębski backt to the top

Other three games of 2022/23 Plusliga Round 16 were played today.
The day started with another great win, the 11th in a row in the competition, of Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, this time on the field of another big, PGE Skra Bełchatów, and the match ended after a thrilling tie break 2-3 (23:25, 25:20, 23:25, 25:20, 13:15). Serb outside hitter Uroš Kovacevic stood out again for the winners, collecting as many as 33 points through 55% in attack and 5 winning blocks while his compatriot Aleksander Atanasijevic scoring 21 on the other side of the net.
The stunning comeback of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn in the fourth set of the shook the current Polish and European champions Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle!
There were a lot of indications that ZAKSA would draw a full set of points from the match against Olsztyn, but they have to be satisfied with just one, as the rivals won at tie break, 2-3 (25:17, 22:25, 25:18, 25:27, 12:15). ZAKSA were leading 2-1 and 16-10 in the fourth set, but their rivals turned the tide of the match thanks to the excellent disposition of Karol Butryn, the top scorer and MVP of the match with 28 points.
Olsztyn broke the series of eight league victories of ZAKSA, and the Kędzierzyn-Koźle side suffered its first defeat at home this season! At the same time, Javier Weber’s guys recorded their fourth win in a row and reached sixth place in the charts, while ZAKSA remained fourth.
However ZAKSA, for which Łukasz Kaczmarek scored 17 points and Ukrainian Dmytro Pashytskyy made 80% attack (12/15), played in this match rather weakened as their starting line-up lacked two players: the setter Marcin Janusz and libero Erik Shoji.
Close the picture third away win of the day. Jastrzębski Węgiel, who regain the top of the current charts at +1 from Aluron, easily won on the field of GKS Katowice with a clear 0-3 (21:25, 21:25, 16:25).
MVP of the Silesian derby was Frenchman Trevor Clevenot, who ended the game with 12 points including 1 ace and 1 block and 71% in attack.
