France: all results of a Round 14 without major changes in the standings…

All matches of Round 14 of 2022/23 Ligue A were played on this day, and the day has been closed without major changes in the standings.

The day opens with an upset: second-to-last (before this game) Toulouse celebrated a clear straight sets win on the field of Narbonne, partially 20:25, 18:25 and 24:26, taking three very important points for the standings. The hosts, without starting middle blocker Nikolay Kolev (replaced by Tanguy Djoud, who ended the game with 7 points, 71% in attack and 2 winning blocks), on the other hand, played a disappointing game, suffering the play of the rivals basically in all the game, and wasting also a four points lead in second set. Brazilian opposite Daniel Cagliari was the most prolific player on the winning side scoring 14 points including one ace through 54% in attack, while Lohan Nack Minyem also contributed with 9 points, 1 block, 1 ace and 7/7 in attack.
Willner Rivas was the top scorer for Narbonne with 15 points (including 2 winning blocks) and 50% in attack.

The day continued with another away win, the one of newcomers Saint Nazaire on the field of Poitiers, and the game ended 1-3 (20:25, 18:25, 26:24, 20:25), with another great performance of the winners, led in score by Kyle Ensing who ended the game with 23 points.
Three points also for all the other favorites, at least, on paper.
No problems for the current top three of the standings.
Leaders Tours easily defeated titleholders (and now No.8) Montpellier in straight sets (25:18, 25:17, 25:22) in what was absolutely an one-sided game, and the same did Chaumont, who sweep last placed Cambrai with the same result (25:19, 25:22, 25:23).
Straight sets win also for third-placed Nantes, who easily down a disappointing Nice who, in last round played before Christmas, managed to defeat the leaders at the time Chaumont. Partially, today, it was 25:17, 25:20 and 25:17, and captain Steven Marshall was the only player in double digit for the visiting side (12 points, 1 block and 48% in attack). However, the good news for Nice is the debut of starting libero Kyle D’Agostino (56% positive reception and 44% perfect).
Chizoba Neves Atu was the top scorer on the winning side with 13 points, 2 blocks 1 ace and 53% in attack, while Petrus Montes also contributed with 10 points and 4 of his team’s 9 winning blocks.

Straight sets win also for Sète, on the field of a very bad Tourcoing, with 24 points of an almost unstoppable Kyle Russell (24 points, 2 aces and 67% in attack). Partially it was 18:25, 19:25 and 23:25.
Ligue A will continue next week, spread from Thursday to Sunday, January 8, 2023, while the derby between Paris and Plessis Robinson will be recovered on February 15, 2023.
