Poland: Aluron down Jastrzębski in advance of Round 19! 3 points for ZAKSA

2 min read

Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie have returned to winning path in the 2022/23 Plusliga.

The big match of Round 19 didn’t disappoint volleyball fans and, in fact, ended with a five-set battle in Zawiercie with a twist! Partially it was 22:25, 25:21, 22:25, 27:25 and 15:9.
Aluron trailed vice-champions Jastrzębski Węgiel 1-2 in sets and defended the match ball in the fourth set.
Eventually, the hosts turned the tide of the duel, and after the tie-break, they triumphed in the game, the best way to start 2023 in one of the strongest club competitions in the world!
Before the encounter, Aluron hoped for revenge for the defeat in the first half of the regular season, when the clash ended in just sets.
The visitors, on the other hand, were counting on a breakthrough, as they had two defeats in a row behind them. All in all, Aluron remained vice leaders, while Jastrzębski are still third-placed.
Dawid Konarski was the top scorer on the winning side with 22 points, while Miłosz Zniszczoł and Michał Szalacha recorded four blocks each while Aluron had 14 in total.
The Frenchman Stéphen Boyer scored 20 points for Jastrzębski.

Predictions respected in second game of the day: Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, currently at fourth place in the standings, won in three sets on the field of last-placed BBTS Bielsko-Biała (23:25, 23:25, 19:25). Łukasz Kaczmarek ended the game as top scorer, putting down 19 points on the winning side through 63% in attack, while Jake Harnes was the only player among the hosts in double digit with 14 points but with only 39% in attack and 14% efficiency.
