France: tie break win for Paris and Poitiers. Montpellier, Tourcoing and Nantes ok

After yesterday’s advance, in which Saint-Nazaire down Chaumont 3-1 and reached second place in the standings, Round 16 of 2022/23 Ligue A continued today with other 5 games.

Second place for just a night, as Nantes Rezé down Sète 3-1 (25:18, 23:25, 25:19, 25:23), and it eventually claimed it!
With these three points, the winners are just 2 points behind leaders Tours (who tomorrow will face Narbonne in front of their home fans, in a match that will close this Round).
In a game played at high levels in attack, Chizoba Neves Atu was almost unstoppable with 26 points (including 2 aces) to his name through 59% in attack, while Kyle Russel, on the losing side, replied with 25, all in attack, and 61%!

Three points also for defending champions Montpellier who, after losing first set on the field of Toulouse, managed to win a very thrilling game by 1-3 (25:18, 23:25, 24:26, 22:25), and for Tourcoing, who down last-placed Cambrai in three sets (25:19, 25:20, 25:23).
Captain Moritz Reichert was named MVP of the game, and he was also top scorer with 13 points, including 4 aces, through 60% in attack. Lucas Vanberkel also contributed with 4 winning blocks.

Not easy for Paris, who needed five sets to down Nice (16:25, 25:18, 25:22, 18:25, 15:11) on their home soil. However, the team from capital could count on a super Ibrahim Lawani, author of 31 points (and 61% in attack, deservedly named MVP of the game. Although Celestin Cardin replied with 25 points (61% in attack) he wasn’t enough, as his team suffered a disappointing performance of its middle blockers: only 1 point for Gojko Cuk, and 2 for recovered Rodney Ah-Kong. The other, Franco Medina, who played the whole game, scored 7 points (2 aces, 1 block but only 31% in attack).

Close the picture another tie break: the home win of Poitiers over Plessis-Robinson (25:19, 15:25, 21:25, 25:23, 15:11).
After the game in Narbonne, last Sunday, this time Poitiers managed to win, led by MVP Aymen Bouguerra, decisive in last part of the match, and Gabriel Da Silva, top scorer with 24 points.
