Turkey: Halkbank open final series with a four sets win over Ziraat (and 31 points by Nimir!)

Best-of-five final series of 2022/23 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi Metin Görgün Sezonu started this evening with Game 1 between regular season leaders Halkbank and No.2 Ziraat Bankkart Ankara, in which the hosts, after dominating first two sets, managed to win by 3-1 (25:15, 25:16, 23:25, 26:24).
After winning third set, Ziraat react and was able to keep the lead also in four set from start to finish, first 3-8, and then 12-16.
However the rivals managed to react and to recover from 18-21, eventually winning set and game 26-24, with a stunning performance of Dutch bomber Nimir Abdel Aziz, who ended the game with as many as 31 points (3 aces, 2 blocks and 62% in attack), well supported by Thomas Jaeschke who also contributed with 20 (1 ace, 1 block and 60% in attack). Double digit (11 points) also for Mert Matic, including 4
winning blocks and 1 aces too, while Wouter Ter Maat was the most efficient player on the losing side with 23 points (60% in attack and 2 aces).
Game 2 on Saturday in Ankara again, but on the field of Ziraat.
