France: Chaumont defeat Tours in straight sets in Game 1 of Final!

Grand Finale of 2022/23 Ligue A started in the way you don’t expect: with a great home victory of Chaumont against title favorite Tours, in a game that ended in just three sets (25:20, 28:26, 25:17)!
Chaumont, third-placed in regular season, played a very high level match in front of more than 2000 home fans in a sold-out Palestra, while the rivals, regular season leaders and French Cup winners, could count only on Aboubacar Drame Neto, top scorer of the game with 16 points to his name (all in attack, 59%), but he wasn’t enough against a very combative team, above all in second set (when they wasted a 16-13 lead but they managed to close 28-26, and after a balanced start in third).
MVP of the game Czech opposite Patrick Indra, with 13 points through 57% in attack and 1 block, well-supported by Nathan Wounembaina and Adrian Aciobanitei, who scored 12 points each (the latter with 3 aces, a great 64%, including the attack from the second line that closed first set), and Patrick Gasmann also contributed with 4 of his team 8 winning blocks.
Final will continue next Saturday with the decisive Game 2 on the field of Tours, and with an eventual Golden Set if the hosts will be able to win the game in front of their home fans with the score of 3-0 or 3-1. On the other hand, two sets will be enought for Chaumont….
