European Golden League started today! All results of Round 1

CEV European Golden League 2023 started today.
In Pool A, with 11 points from Jose Pedro Pinto, 10 by Alexandre Ferreira and 4 aces from Miguel Tavares, Portugal start the competition in a perfect way with a straight win over a bad Romania (25:22, 25:21, 25:20), while Türkiye won in Denmark with the same result (18:25, 21:25, 15:25), led by a great Adis Lagumdzija (21 points including 4 aces).
Three points also for Belgium and Ukraine in Pool B.
The first defeat Croatia by 3-1 (25:17, 25:21, 23:25, 25:23) with 25 points from Ferre Reggers, while the second down North Macedonia in straight sets (25:21, 25:22, 25:11) with 14 points from Illia Kovalov, 13 by Dmytro Teryomenko and 12 from Oleh Plotnytskyi.
Also the two winners of Pool C close the day with 3 points.
Czech Republic celebrated a great 3-1 victory over Slovakia (24:26, 25:20, 25:19, 25:17) in front of more than 1500 home fans in Zlin, with 25 points by Marek Sotola, while Finland won in straight sets in Estonia (17:25, 16:25, 15:25) after 70 minutes of play.
The Golden League features 12 teams with a double round-robin system on which teams face each other twice, both at home and away.
The top two finalists will secure a spot in the 2023 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Challenger Cup scheduled for this summer.
The team finishing last will be relegated to the Silver League in 2024, adding an extra edge to the competition.
