VNL 2023: huge comeback for Poland over Slovenia. 3 points for the Netherlands

Poland started off their 2023 Volleyball Nations League Pool 6 campaign with a huge 3-2 (29:31, 21:25, 25:20, 25:20, 15:13) comeback victory over Slovenia in Pasay City, Philippines, improving to a 7-2 win-loss record and 16 points, while with 6-3 and 19, today’s rivals are at fifth.
Outside hitter Aleksander Sliwka was one of several Polish key players along with setter Marcin Janusz, opposite Lukasz Kaczmarek and libero Jakub Popiwczak, who appeared in this edition of the competition for the first time in this match, and finished as one of the top scorers of the game, sharing the title with Sloveniaās Klemen Cebulj with 20 points each.
“We always have tough games against Slovenia. We have some history together. They always fight until the end and they showed it, especially in the first set,” said Aleksander Sliwka after the game. “But we won the game and we are really happy that we showed enough quality to beat them. We were just trying to play every single ball like itās the last, to fight for every ball and stick to the tactics, and it worked. Many of our guys played today and had impact in this win.”
Earlier on the same Pool, The Netherlands down Canada in four sera (25:22, 25:22, 17:25, 25:18) with 24 points from Nimir.
