VNL 2023: Poland last semifinalist! Brazil ko in just 3 sets!

Finals hosts Poland is the last 2023 Volleyball Nations League semifinalist!

Playing together with the support of a full-packed Ergo Arena, they won a thrilling battle against Brazil by beating them 3-0 (26:24, 25:21, 25:20).
In the semifinals, on Saturday, they will face Japan, who prevailed over Slovenia 3-0 (26:24, 25:18, 25:22) in the first quarterfinal of the day.
Poland boast three podium appearances in the competition, having finished second in 2021 and third in 2018 and 2022, and will fight for their first title in the VNL!

Today outside hitter Aleksander Śliwka was decisive with 16 points and a great performance also in second line, and moreover he scored two blocks and two aces.
Fellow outside hitter Wilfredo Leon, with 11 points including three blocks and two aces and middle blocker Mateusz Bienieck, with ten (including four aces), also contributed in the success.
Opposite Alan de Souza led the Brazilian offense with 15 points including one ace followed by outside hitter Ricardo Lucarelli, with ten points, one block and two aces.
Poland earned the victory by outscoring Brazil in attack (37 to 35), blocks (ten to five) and aces (nine to five).

In the other semifinal of the VNL 2023, which will also be played on Saturday, USA, who knocked out defending champions France with a 3-2 (25:21, 25:18, 17:25, 24:26, 15:9) win, will face world champions Italy, who destroyed Tokyo Olympic bronze medalists Argentina with a 3-0 (25:17, 25:13, 25:14) victory on Wednesday.
