2 min read

At the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center, the NORCECA Men’s Senior Continental Championship continues with the battle for a spot in the semifinals.

Canada sweep Mexico with a clear 3-0 (25:18, 25:18, 25:20), thus topping Pool A and securing their spot into the semifinals. Canadian outside hitter Eric Loeppky, was the most prolific player of the match with 13 points, well supported by Stephen Maar, who scored 11 points.
On the other side of the net, Mexico’s Luis Hernadez Baca scored 11 points too. Mexico will now face the Dominican Republic to decide second place in the pool.
The home fans had much to celebrate as the USA triumphed over Puerto Rico with a one-sided 3-0 (25:14, 25:18, 25:12). U.S. outside hitter Torey DeFalco ended the game with 12 points, making him the only player in the match to score in double digit. Matt Anderson and Jake Hanes contributed seven points each, while Puerto Rico’s top scorer was Klistan Lawrence with seven points too, all in attack.
Now the United States (2-0) will Cuba (2-0) to determine the pool winner in the most anticipated clash. The winners will bypass the quarterfinals and advance directly to the semifinals.
Earlier in the day, the same Cuba destroy Suriname 3-0 (25:11, 25:19, 25:23) led by outside hitters Osniel Mergarejo and Jose Miguel Gutierrez Suarez, both scoring 14 points. Zefanio Brienburg of Suriname scored 11 points.
