NORCECA Championship: Dominican Republic and Cuba to Semifinals

Dominican Republic and Cuba are the two teams that have secured their places in the semifinals of the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.

In a thrilling contest, the Dominican Republic triumphed over Puerto Rico in straight sets, partially 25:19, 25:21 and 32:30.
The star player in the winning side, Henry Omar Tapia, ended the game with 18 points to his name, while his teammates Moises Ortiz and Hector Cruz also contributed with 14 points each. On the other side of the net Jamal Ellis, the most prolific player, delivered 15 points.

Meanwhile, Cuba defeated Mexico, also in straight sets (25:20, 25:15, 25:23). Outside hitter Osniel Mergarejo was the top scorer of the match with 15 points, while Josue De Jesus Lopez and Luis David Baca scored 13 and 12 points respectively for Mexico.
With these results, the Dominican Republic will face the United States in the first semifinal while Cuba will take on Canada in the second.
