For ninth time in history, Egypt win the title at prestigious African Volleyball Championship.
The hosts celebrated at Il Cairo after a great victory against Algeria, 3-1 (25:22, 25:18, 20:25, 25:22) and, above all, after a not easy tournament due to the first defeats, just against the same rival.
This was the first title after 2015, and the last three editions were won by Tunisia.
Bronze medal to Libya, and this was a historic result because the only one medal, a silver, has been taken in 1979c but also becausec thanks to the 3-1 victory against Cameroon (22:25, 25:22, 25:23, 25:15) they get the qualification to 2025 World Championship.
On the other hand, a disappointed result for Tunisia, only at fifth place ahead Rwanda, Ciad, Marocco (who retired from the competition after the earthquake that struck the country), Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, Gambia, Tanzania and Burundi.
MVP del torneo Egypt’s setter Youssef Hossam and, with him, also two his teammates: outside hitter Mohamed Asran and middle blocker Abdelrahman Seoudy.
Dream team also featured Libya’s opposite Ahmed Ikhbayri, Cameroon’s middle blocker Dolgeombai Sem and two players from Algeria, outside hitters Soufiane Hosni and libero Ilyas Achouri.
