Poland: ZAKSA Clinches the Polish Super Cup in a thrilling comeback victory against Jastrzębski!

In an epic clash between two volleyball titans, Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle defeat Jastrzębski Węgiel 2-3 (25:20, 26:24, 29:31, 19:25, 12:15) to claim the AL-KO Superpuchar Polski 2023, Super Cup of Poland, hosted at the iconic Spodek Arena in Katowice.
Both finalists from this year’s Champions League gave the fans a dramatic spectacle, in which the Polish champions initially leading the match 2-0 and even 19-13 in the third set.
The end of the match?
Absolutely NO, because the team from Kędzierzyn-Koźle eventually turned the tides and secured a well-deserved win!

The match began with in an unexpected way as Jastrzębski Węgiel took an early 6-0 lead, keeping a clear advantage throughout the first set and closing it at 25-20.
The second set saw a more balanced game with the scores tied in several points, and It was only at the very end that ZAKSA managed a slight lead (22-20), but their rivals quickly closed the gap and eventually close also this set, 26-24.
Jastrzębski Węgiel started the third set very very strong, but ZAKSA fought back from a 19-13 deficit, eventually overtaking what seemed a desperate situation and winning the set in a nail-biting 31-29!
The fourth set saw ZAKSA ride their good times, and Jastrzębski struggling to keep up, ultimately surrendering to a 25-19 win for their opponents.
The tie-break was a head-to-head excting battle, but ZAKSA gained the upper hand in the decisive moments. Bartosz Bednorz earned the match point, and Aleksander Śliwka definitely closed the game with a successful attack, putting down the ball of 15-12.

Top scorers of the match were MVP Bartosz Bednorz, who scored 25 points through 60% in attack, 2 blocks 2 aces, and Aleksander Śliwka who also contributed with 20 points, 56% in attack, 1 ace and 2 block points for the winners, while Tomasz Fornal and Jean Patry scored 24 and 16 points respectively for Jastrzębski Węgiel.
