Poland: Cuprum Lubin close Round 15 (and first leg) with a straight sets win!

Round 15 (and first leg) of 2023/24 Plusliga is over today with the very important win of KGHM No.15 Cuprum Lubin over No.16 and last-placed Enea Czarni Radom, 3-0 (25:22, 26:24, 25:15).

The visiting side built their advantage, and in the middle of the first set amounts to six points (17:11). However, Lubin reacted and managed to win the set 25:22.
Czarni Radom had to acknowledge the superiority of their rivals in the second and third set, better in blocking (9 to 3), serving (8 to 3), but also reception and attack.
Jake Hanes was named MVP of the game with 21 points to his name through 60% in attack and 3 aces, while Alexander Berger also contributed with 17 (58% in attack and 2 winning blocks), the same number of points of Nikola Meljanac on the losing side.
After this match, nothing changes in the standings as Lubin, who won after eight losses in a row (their last win was on November 16, against Ślepsk Malow Suwałki) remain at 15th place with 11 points but now at -1 from GKS Katowice, while Czarni Radom to the bottom with 6.

With this match played, the first part of the PlusLiga regular season has concluded and, after fifteen games, the reigning Polish champions Jastrzębski Węgiel are to the top. Strong performances are also seen from Projekt Warszawa and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, who are among the top teams along with Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, Trefl Gdańsk, and Bogdanka LUK Lublin.
For the first time in years, ZAKSA is outside the top eight!
