France: Toulouse win advance of Round 16 and fly temporarily to fourth place

Round 16 of 2023/24 Marmara Spike League started today with the advance between Toulouse and Sète, ended with the score of 3-1 (25:21, 26:24, 21:25, 25:23) in favor of the hosts who rise to the fourth place in the standings, at least temporarily, waiting for Nice – Tourcoing scheduled tomorrow.
After almost two hours of play, the winners made the difference from the service line scoring 11 aces (only 2 for Sète), but suffered the rivals’ blocks (4 to 11), while Julien Winkelmuller was their most prolific player with 19 points to his name through 55% in attack and 2 aces.
Maxime Hervoir and Tom Picard also contributed with 15 points each, while a great Florian Krage, MVP of the match, added 13, including 2 winning blocks and 69% in attack.
For Sète, still without starting opposite Celestin Cardin, injured, Cheikh Diop ended the game as top scorer with 23 points (62% in attack and 3 winning blocks), well supported by Timo Beriot who added 20 through 55% in attack and 3 blocks too, but they weren’t enough.
Tomorrow the others, including thr big match between titleholders Tours, who boast a winning streak consisting in 7 games in Ligue A, and No.2 Nantes Rezé.
Interestingly, the last defeat of Tours in competition was in November, against the same Nantes!
