Poland: BOGDANKA LUK Lublin and leaders Jastrzębski Węgiel win advances of Round 18

Midweek Round 18 of 2023/24 Plusliga or, if you prefer, Round 3 of second leg, started today with first two games.
In a thrilling encounter, Bogdanka LUK Lublin clinches a narrow victory against KGHM Cuprum Lubin with a close 3-2 (25:13, 16:25, 25:23, 17:25, 15:4). The match was a rollercoaster, with both teams showing moments of brilliance, great play and black out, but it was the decisive tie-break that saw the hosts clinch the win with a convincing 15-4 score. Damian Schulz was the top scorer for Lublin, with 22 points to his name through 51% in attack and 3 of the winners’ 18 winning blocks, well-supported by Tobias Brand and Marcin Kania, who scored 14 and 12 points respectively. Marcin Komenda was awarded as the match MVP. Jake Hanes led Lubin with 16 points but with only 42% in attack, followed by Wojciech Ferens at 10 points.
Jastrzębski Węgiel secured a 3-0 (25:20, 27:25, 25:19) victory over newcomers Exact Systems Hemarpol Częstochowa. The match showcased Plusliga leaders dominance, particularly in serving (11–8), blocking (13–6), and attack effectiveness (54%–39%). Marko Sedlacek led the scoring for Jastrzębski Węgiel with 17 points, followed by Jean Patry and Norbert Huber, each contributing 14 points and with the first one named MVP of the game. For Częstochowa, Dawid Dulski scored 11 points and Damian Kogut added 10.
