After two advances played yesterday, won by BOGDANKA LUK Lublin and competition’s current leaders Jastrzębski Węgiel, Round 18 of 2023/24 Plusliga or, if you prefer, Round 3 of second leg,
continued today with other three games.
In the first one, No.8 PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów celebrated a 3-1 (25:20, 22:25, 25:17, 25:23) convincing win over No.7 (prior to this match) PSG Stal Nysa, a standings that, tomorrow, could change after the game between Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and Indykpol AZS Olsztyn. Dawid Konarski was named MVP of the game with 23 points to his name through 57% in attack including 2 winning blocks and 1 ace, well supported by Bartłomiej Lipiński and Adrian Aciobăniței, who added 15 and 14 points respectively, with excellent performances in attack. Michał Gierżot and Maciej Muzaj scored 16 points each on the losing side.
No problem for Trefl Gdańsk, who literally trampled over Barkom Każany Lwów with a clean 3-0 (25:17, 25:17, 25:18) with 15 points from top scorer and MVP Aliaksei Nasevich, who left the court with 15
points through 64% in attack and 1 ace. From the service line the winners made the difference, scoring 11 aces against 0 of Barkom, who suffered the bad day of all top players, including opposite Vasyl Tupchii, who ended the game with 6 points through only 18% in attack, and Luciano Palonsky, top scorer with 9 points to his name with 44% in attack.
In the evening, Projekt Warszawa easily defeated last-placed Enea Czarni Radom to regain, at least temporarily, second place in the standings at -4 from leaders Jastrzębski Węgiel, at least until tomorrow, waiting for the big match between Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in a prequel of upcoming CEV Cup quarterfinal!
The team from country’s capital close the game with a clear 3-0 (25:17, 25:12, 25:22), with setter Jan Firlej named MVP with also 4 points to his name, while Artur Szalpuk was the most prolific player with 12 points and the only one in double digit for the winners, one more than Nikola Meljanac for the losing side.
Round 15 will be close tomorrow with the clash for playoffs zone between Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle (who recently parted ways with head coach Tuomas Sammelvuo) and Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, the above mentioned big match between Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów and, in the evening, Ślepsk Malow Suwałki will face GKS Katowice.
