Poland: no upsets on Sunday’s games of Round 20 – straight sets win for Resovia, Aluron and Warszawa

All three matches played today in 2023/24 PlusLiga Round 20 or, if you prefer, Round 5 of second leg, ended in three sets, with victories to No.4 Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, No.2 Projekt Warszawa, and No.3 Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie.
In a highly anticipated clash, as well as a big classic of Polish Volleyball, Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle faced Asseco Resovia Rzeszów. Despite both teams dealing with severely forced lineups, it was Asseco Resovia that emerged victorious with a convincing (17:25, 21:25, 24:26) win. Top scorers of the match were Bartłomiej Kluth for the hosts with 14 points and Stephen Boyer for the winners with 20 points, while Karol Kłos earned the MVP title with an impressive 86% attack efficiency.
Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie secured a 3-0 (25:19, 25:21, 25:20) victory against Enea Czarni Radom. Despite their best efforts, the last-placed team from Radom couldn’t overcome the favorites. MVP Karol Butryn led the scoring with 18 points with an impressive 70% attack efficiency and 2 blocks, supported by Patryk Łaba who also contributed with 11, while Nikola Meljanac scored 10 points on the losing side.
In the evening, Projekt Warszawa delivered a dominant performance, defeating KGHM Cuprum Lubin in straight sets (25:19, 25:17, 25:19).
In each set the team from country’s capital controlled the game, leaving their opponents struggling to compete. Artur Szalpuk led the scoring charts with 15 points, closely followed by Bartłomiej Bołądź, who also contributed 14 points, while Adam Lorenc emerged as the top performer for Cuprum Lubin with 13 points to his name.
