Champions League: Berlin last quarterfinalist – Tours defeated in straight sets

Last Quarterfinals of 2023/24 CEV Champions League is Berlin Recycling Volleys who, after defeating French Champions Tours by 3-1 in first leg in Germany, won the second leg in France with a clean 0-3 (22:25, 18:25, 22:25).
In Quarterfinals, the winners will face again Trentino Itas, the leading team in the Italian league, for third time in last four editions of the competition.
The two sides, in fact, boast already six direct clashes in Champions League: in Pool stage of 2014 edition, and in Quarterfinals in 2021 and 2022 and, in both occasions, Trento progressed to the semifinals. About the number of victories, Trento won 4 games, Berlin 2.
The quarterfinal’s first match is set for February 21 at the Max-Schmeling-Halle.
The match against Tours VB saw the BR Volleys delivering a strong performance from the start. Berlin soon took control of the game, mostly thanks to Czech Marek Sotola, named MVP, who led the score with 11 points, through an impressive 79% attack rate, followed by Ruben Schott and Thimotes Carle, who added 9 and 7, respectively. For Tours, the performance of Aboubacar Drame Neto, top scorer of the game with 12 points through 55% in attack wasn’t enough.
