CEV Cup: Lüneburg first finalist! Arkas eliminated at Golden Set!
2 min read
Despite a hard-fought straight sets defeat in Turkey in first leg, Germany’s SVG Lüneburg took their revenge by beating Arkas Izmir with the score of 3-1 (17:25, 25:23, 30:28, 25:18).
Already a great result but, eventually, they won also decisive Golden Set to claim first ticket for 2023/24 CEV Cup!
In final they’ll face the winners between Fenerbahçe PRL Istanbul and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, who will face each others tomorrow (the team from Poland won first leg in four sets).
Today the players around head coach Stefan Hübner were led in score by Jesse Elser and Erik Röhrs, both authors of 23 points, followed by Xander Ketrzynski and Matthew Knigge, who added 19 and 14 points, respectively (5 winning blocks for the second one).
For Turkish powerhouse, 23 points from Georg Grozer and 21 from Efe Mandiraci were not enough.
