Italy: Trentino’s Riccardo Sbertoli to undergo surgery after injury in CEV Champions League match against Berlin

A recent update from Superlega club Itas Trentino has confirmed that their setter Riccardo Sbertoli has suffered a significant injury during the CEV Champions League match played on Thursday against Berlin Recycling Volleys.
After undergoing medical examinations already on Thursday evening and further assessments, the medical team has diagnosed him with a displaced fracture of the proximal phalanx of the fifth finger on his left hand.
As a result, he is scheduled to undergo surgery in the early days of next week. The timeframe for his recovery is currently under evaluation, leaving his return to the court uncertain.
Tomorrow, regular season leaders Itas Trentino will face Padova in the game that will close 2023/24 Superlega, before playoffs in which they’ll face No.8 Modena.
