CEV Cup: Resovia triumph over Lüneburg in first leg of Final!

Asseco Resovia Rzeszów took a commanding win against SVG Lüneburg with a straight-set victory 0-3 (16:25, 17:25, 21:25) in the first match of the CEV Cup final.
The team from Poland showcased their dominance early on, securing wins in the first two sets and concluding with a win also in the third, the most balanced one, at least until 17-18, when Resovia definitely takes off.
This win gives Resovia a substantial advantage heading into the rematch scheduled for Tuesday, March 19 in Poland, with a good chance to take the first international trophy in club’s history.
Despite the absence of Stephen Boyer, Asseco Resovia’s performance was undeterred, also taking advantage from the rivals’ 25 direct errors.
Torey DeFalco led the scoring with 16 points including 5 aces, followed by Jakub Kochanowski with 11 including 6 winning blocks and an excellent 71% in attack, Jakub Bucki with 10, and Karol Kłos with 9 (7/8 in attack, 88% in attack and 2 winning blocks).
On the other side of the net side, nobody reached a double digit and Erik Rohrs was Lüneburg’s top scorer with 8 points through 54% in attack.
Resovia outperformed Luneburg across the board, achieving a better performance in all elements, including attack efficiency (53% compared to the hosts’ 41%), blocking (9 to 4), and serving (6 aces to 3), led by setter Fabian Drzyzga, named MVP of the game.
