Champions League: Trento and Jastrzębski take first step towards Superfinals! Civitanova and Ziraat defeated in first leg of semifinals

The chase for the CEV Champions League 2024 SuperFinal spots reached an interesting twist with the victories for Itas Trentino and Jastrzębski Węgiel in first leg of semifinals.
Both teams, playing on their home courts, secured wins against Cucine Lube Civitanova and Ziraat Bank Ankara in their respective games, setting the stage for an intense conclusion next week to decide the super finalists.
Current Plusliga leaders Jastrzębski Węgiel, last year’s finalists, showcased their dominance with a commanding 3-0 (25:13, 25:18, 30:28) win over Turkey’s Ziraat Bank Ankara at Hala Widowiskowo-Sportowa Jastrzębie Zdrój. Jean Patry and Tomasz Fornal led the charge, with the first one securing the MVP title thanks to a 20-point performance through 60% in attack also with 3 aces and 2 winning blocks.
The duo was decisive in the success of the Polish side dominance, particularly in a closely contested third set, ensuring their team stands on the verge of another SuperFinal presence.
Meanwhile, the all-Italian duel between Trentino Itas and Cucine Lube Civitanova ended in a 3-1 (25:17, 16:25, 25:18, 25:23) victory for the home team.
Decisive the performances of MVP Alessandro Michieletto, author of 23 points including 4 aces, 1 block and 56% in attack, Kamil Rychlicki who added 19 with 2 winning blocks, 2 aces and an impressive 75% in attack. Good also young setter Alessandro Acquarone who led his team with a 54% in attack.
The win puts Trentino in a favorable position to secure their place in the SuperFinals with just two sets needed in the upcoming decider.
