After the advance played yesterday, in which leaders Chaumont down Montpellier with the score of 3-0, penultimate Round of 2023/24 Marmara Spike League, Round 25, has been completed today.
All easy for defending champions Tours who, after two defeats in a row, easily defeated Saint Nazaire in big match of the day with a clear 3-0, partially 25:21, 25:18 and 25:18. In front of more than 2000 home fans, the winners made the difference above all in blocking, scoring as many as 11 points from this element, 5 only from Michael Parkinson (who closed the game with 9 points through 80% in attack) compared to the rivals’only 3, but also in attack, with 50% of team performance against 35%. Decisive also Aboubacar Drame Neto, with 17 points to his name, all in attack, through 61%. A result that is worth only the 7th place for Saint Nazaire, and the 4th place for Tours, with the same number of points of Tourcoing, 38, today defeated at home by Toulouse with the score of 2-3 (38:40, 25:23, 25:18, 24:26, 13:15), despite an impressive performance in blocking (18 points compared to the winners’ 11) and 30 points from absolute top scorer Pablo Koukartsev (5 winning blocks, 1 ace and 47% in attack).
For Toulouse, Florian Krage left the court with 17 points to his name including 7 winning blocks and an impressive 70% in attack.
Tie break win also for Paris, who won a very nervous match on the field of Nice, 2-3 (25:18, 15:25, 10:25, 25:18, 13:15).

In a game with lot of ups and downs in both sides, the winners were led by Japanese duo Kento Myaura, named MVP of the game with 28 points to his name, including 3 aces, 1 block and an impressive 69%
in attack and Masato Kai, who also contributed with 18, 2 aces, 1 block and 68% in attack, while Simon Hirsch was the most prolific player with 22 points (1 ace, 2 blocks and 56% in attack).
With this win, the team from country’s capital confirmed themselves at 8th place in the standings and, in playoffs quarterfinals, they’ll face Chaumont.
At second place Nantes Reze, today victorious against a combative Sète, with the score of 3-1 (23:25, 25:16, 32:30, 25:16) with 12 winning blocks, 23 points from a great Hugo De Leon, including 2 blocks, 2 aces and an impressive 70% in attack, and 20 from Chizoba Neves Atu, decisive from the service line with 4 aces, 5 errors on 25 attempts.
The other two games ended in straight sets: Plessis Robinson sentenced newcomers Saint-Jean d’Illac to Ligue B with a straight sets win (25:16, 25:19, 27:25) with 24 points from Samuel Jeanlys (1 ace and 66% in attack), while Narbonne, on the other hand, celebrated their stay in Ligue A with a convincing straight sets win over Poitiers, partially 25:19, 25:23 and 31:29.
The last Round of Ligue A is scheduled next Saturday, with the top 8 already decided, like No.1 and No.2, Chaumont and Nantes, and No.8, Paris. At 9th and 10th place Plessis Robinson and Sète (not necessarily in this order), and Relegation for Saint Jean D’illac. The others placements will be decided in a week!
