VNL 2024: 3rd week started today – Brazil, Canada and Bulgaria ok. Slovenia to Olympic Games!

Week 3 of 2024 Volleyball Nations League started today in Manila, The Philippines and Ljubljana, Slovenia.
And the news of the day is that Pool 5 hosts Slovenia has officially secured a spot in the Paris Olympic Games by defeating Argentina 3-0 (25:23, 25:22, 29:27) in the VNL tournament held in Stožice, Ljubljana.
Slovenia, fielding their standard lineup, showcased impressive play from the start, taking an early lead and keeping it throughout the match. Despite a strong effort from Argentina, who are also vying for an Olympic ticket, Slovenia’s focused and dynamic play, especially in serving and attacking, proved to be almost unstoppable.
Captain Tine Urnaut and his teammates built a solid advantage in each set, led by Jan Kozamernik and Alen Pajenk. This triumph not only confirmed their Olympic qualification but also boosted Slovenia to fourth place in the FIVB rankings, marking their highest position ever.
The victory was celebrated by a packed crowd at Arena Stožice, who witnessed their team excel and secure their Olympic dream.
With this victory, Slovenia also surpassed, at least temporarily, Italy in the Nations League standings.
On the same Pool Bulgaria down Türkiye with the score of 3-1 (27:25, 25:20, 12:25, 25:22) while, in Manila, Brazil defeated The Netherlands with the same result, 1-3 (26:24, 23:25, 29:31, 20:25) and Canada beat Japan at tie break, partially 25:21, 20:25, 25:15, 20:25 and 15:10.
