EuroVolley 2026: qualifiers continue – successes for Denmark, Latvia, Switzerland and Greece

3 min read

CEV Eurovolley 2026 qualifiers continued on Sunday with other four games.
In Pool A, after a hard-fought clash, Denmark managed to defeat Türkiye in front of their home fans at Lillebeltshallen Middelfart with the score of 3-0 (25:23, 25:23, 27:25).
Mads Kyed Jensen was the most prolific player of the match with 18 points including 2 aces, 1 block and 60% in attack, one more than Adis Lagumdzija who tallied 17 for Türkiye. For the winners, this was their second win in as many games after the straight sets win over Hungary, last Saturday.
Two teams needed four sets to win their respective games: Latvia and Greece.
The first one, at their home court in Jelgava’s Zemgales Olympic Center, down Slovakia with the score of 3-1 (25:23, 21:25, 26:24, 25:21) after 122 minutes of play, despite a great performance for Slovakia’s Patrik Lamanec, top scorer of the match with 24 points through 59% in attack, including 3 winning blocks and 2 aces, well supported by Jakub Ihnat, who added 22 (56% in attack) including 3 blocks and 4 aces, but they were not enough to snatch at least one point for a Slovakia who suffered their second defeat in as many games. To the top of Pool G standings Latvia, with 6 points and 2 win in as many games after the one against modest Kosovo, on first day of qualifiers.
Four sets win also for Greece who, in North Macedonia, at SC Jane Sandanski Skopje, defeated the hosts with the score of 1-3 (25:15, 18:25, 23:25, 20:25) in Pool F. Both sides have now 3 points in the standings, ahead Georgia, currently with 0.
Dimitrios Mouchlias scored 24 points for the winners including 1 ace, 4
winning blocks and a great 68% in attack, one less than Nikola Gjorgiev in North Macedonia’s jersey, top scorer of the game with 25 points to his name (59% in attack, 2 aces and 1 block).
To make the difference was the better performance in blocking, with 12 points from this element for Greece, compared to the hosts’ 6.
In Pool A, at Betoncoupe Arena in Schönenwerd, hosts Switzerland collected another great tie break win after the comeback in Sweden in their first qualifiers’ game, but today against Spain, almost wasting a 2-0 lead: 3-2 (25:16, 25:23, 19:25, 22:25, 15:9).
In a balanced game, with lot of ups and downs in both sides, Lars Migge scored 24 points for the winners including 5 of his team’s 12 winning blocks and 61% in attack.
First part of 2026 Eurovolley Qualifiers will continue between Wednesday and Thursday with last 6 games of the year!
