Netherlands National Team parts ways with Roberto Piazza (who became head coach of Iran!)

The Netherlands has parted ways with men’s national team head coach Roberto Piazza, who began his task in 2019.
Italian expert reflected positively on his tenure, noting significant progress for both himself and the team.
Under his leadership, the Dutch team achieved notable results, including two fifth-place at the European Championships as well as a strong performance in the Volleyball Nations League. Despite missing out on the 2024 Olympics, technical director Herman Meppelink praised his impact and expressed gratitude for his contributions.
Roberto Piazza has officially been appointed as the head coach of Iran’s men’s national volleyball team, a role he will hold through the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
He has a notable coaching career with top teams such as Allianz Milano (still today), Poland’s PGE Skra Belchatow, Modena Volley, and Greece’s Olympiacos, will bring his extensive experience to Iran.
He began his coaching journey in 1990 as an assistant coach with Parma and has since led national teams in the Netherlands, Qatar, and served as an assistant with Russia.
