The German Volleyball Federation announced that Massimo Botti is the new head coach of the men’s national team.
The 52-year-old Italian expert has signed a contract through 2028, taking over after Michał Winiarski stepped down late last year for personal reasons.
He joins the national program with strong momentum from club volleyball, as he is currently head coach of Polish Plusliga side Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, building a reputation as a coach who combines tactical discipline with emotional leadership.
Speaking about his new role, he said he is both proud and highly motivated. “This is an exciting challenge,” he stated.
“I want to bring my energy to the team and grow together with the players.”
German Fedetation performance director Christian Dünnes believes Massimo Botti is the right choose for Germany’s next phase as “he has already shown in different leagues that he can guide teams successfully.”
“His ambition and willingness to fully commit to this project stood out immediately,” he added.
Botti’s long-term objective is qualification for the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 while, in the short term, the focus will be on building a clear playing identity ahead of the Volleyball Nations League and the European Championship.
“We have a lot of potential,” he also said. “Now it’s about turning that potential into consistent performance.”
