Champions League: other 5 teams qualified to the next stage. Golden set for Orion Stars Doetinchem and Guaguas Las Palmas

After Crvena Zvezda Beograd and Olympiacos Piraeus, who claimed their ticket for next stage of 2024/25 CEV Champions League yesterday after clear successes over VC Strumica and Omonia Nicosia, respectively, other 5 teams joined them.
After a clean straight sets win in Hungary in first leg, Austria’s Hypo Tirol Innsbruck reapeted their performance also in front of almost 1000 home fans over Fino Kaposvar, 3-0 (25:19, 25:21, 25:21), after just 71 minutes of play. Better in all elements, the winners were led in score by Niklas Kronthaler and Kyle Hobus, with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
In the next stage of the competition, they’ll face the winners between Mladost Zagreb and Budva, who will face each others tomorrow (Mladost won first leg in Montenegro with the score of 3-1).
Qualification also for Volley Schönenwerd from Switzerland, who down at home Latvia’s Jēkabpils Lūši by 3-1 (25:23, 25:22, 17:25, 25:19) and will face CSM Corona Brasov from Romania, who destroyed OK Radnik Bijeljina from Belarus, 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:19) like in first leg, with 13 points from top scorer Dusan Stojsavljevic (1 ace, 2 winning blocks and 63% in attack).
The other two teams celebrated their qualification after Golden Set.
After a straight sets defeat in Estonia in first leg, Orion Stars Doetinchem from The Netherlands took their revenge in front of their home fans to win against Selver x Taltech Tallinn with the score of 3-1 (20:25, 25:20, 25:17, 25:19), and then confirmed themselves by claiming also decisive Golden Set with the minimum gap, 15-13, at their SaZa Topsporthal Doetinchem.
To make the difference 15 winning blocks (only 6 for the rivals), and
26 points from top scorer Maksim Shkredau (42% in attack and 5 winning blocks). In next stage they’ll face Crvena Zvezda Beograd.
Qualification also for Spain’s Guaguas Las Palmas, who won first leg in Spain but suffered a defeat in Portugal at home of Sport Lisboa e Benfica with the same result, 3-1 (25:17, 21:25, 26:24, 31:29), but then they managed to win Golden Set, 11-15, mostly thanks to 16 winning blocks. Now they’ll face Olympiacos Piraeus.
