Italy: Welcome back Superlega! Civitanova down Padova in advance of Round 1

Cucine Lube Civitanova kicked off the 2024/25 SuperLega Credem Banca season with a 3-1 win at home against Sonepar Padova.
In a hard-fought match, they secured the victory with set scores of 25:22, 22:25, 26:24, and 25:17.
Despite the absence of outside hitter Aleksandar Nikolov, and middle blocker Marko Podrascanin, avaible since Round 4, Civitanova managed to claim first three points of the season in front of enthusiastic home fans at their Eurosuole Forum.
The star of the evening was Adis Lagumdzija, who led his team with 25 points (62% in attack with 2 aces and 2 winning blocks), earning the MVP title, well supported by solid performances from Mattia Bottolo, who also contributed with 15 points, and Eric Loeppky, with 10.
Padova put up a fight, with Marko Sedlacek (14 points), Veljko Mašulović (12), Mattia Crosato (11), and Fabian Plak (10) all reaching double digits in scoring.
However, it wasn’t enough to stop Civitanova, who dominated in the final set to close the match.
