France: Nice open 2024/25 season with a 3-1 win over Toulouse to close Round 1

Round 1 of 2024/25 Marmara Spike League has been completed today with the game between Nice and Toulouse, ended with the score of 3-1 (25:18, 26:24, 19:25, 25:16) in favor of the home team, who started new season with 3 well-deserved points.

In a game with lot of ups and down in both sides, the hosts started strong and managed to win first set without major problems.
Toulouse reacted already in second set, but then succumbing again under the play of Nice, able to perform a comeback and to close the contest with the minimum gap, 26-24.
The visiting side tried to reopen the game by winning third set, but then collapsed in fourth one, with the hosts celebrating the success, led by top scorer and MVP Simon Hirsch, at his second season with French club.
Today he left the court with 19 points to his name through 52% in attack, including 2 aces and 2 winning blocks, well supported by outside hitters Alexandros Raptis and captain Ryley Barnes, who also contributed with 14 and 11 points respectively, and middle blocker Merrick McHenry, author of 10 points including 1 block and 1 ace and an impressive 89% in attack (8/9 without errors or blocked)!
Julien Winkelmuller scored 14 points for the losing side, and double digit also for Lohan Nack Minyem (13 points with 3 winning blocks and 71% in attack).
