Olympiacos, Doetinchem and Hypo Tirol dominate their rivals in Round 2 of Champions League. Away win for Brasov

First leg games of Second Round of 2024/25 Champions League Qualifiers have been completed this week.
On Tuesday, Switzerland’s Volley Schönenwerd suffered a 1-3 (25:18, 23:25, 21:25, 26:28) home defeat against CSM Corona Brasov from Romania.
On Wednesday, the other three sides all celebrated clear home successes.
Greek powerhouse Olympiacos Piraeus secured a convincing 3-0 (25:21, 32:30, 25:23) victory over Spain’s Guaguas Las Palmas. With this dominant performance, the winners now needs just two sets in the return leg in the Canary Islands to advance to the third qualifying round.
The team, led by italian expert Andrea Gardini, showcased their class on the court led by Serb Aleksandar Atanasijevic, who was named MVP of the match, who led the charge with 16 points, sealing the final score with a powerful ace.
Other decisive performances included Gordon Perrin, Rafaíl Koumentákis, and Alen Pajenk, who contributed 13, 12, and 11 points, respectively.
The return of Mitar Djuric from injury was also decisive, as he delivered a flawless attacking performance with 8/8 successful attacks and one ace.
The same did, in other Champions League second-round qualifiers, Austrian Champions Hypo Tirol Innsbruck who defeated HAOK Mladost Zagreb from Croatia with the same result, 3-0 (25:16, 25:14, 25:18), with a great team performance in attack (63%) and 18 points from top scorer Pedro Frances (including 1 ace, as many as 6 of his team’s 10 winning blocks and 82% in attack), while Dutch side Orion Doetinchem triumphed over Serbian team Crvena Zvezda Beograd, also with a 3-0 win (26:24, 25:20, 25:20).
