CEV Cup: other 5 teams to 16th finals. Fino Kaposvar after a Golden Set!

32th Finals of 2024/25 CEV Cup continued with several other verdicts.
After a heavy defeat in just three sets in first leg , Hungary’s Fino Kaposvar redeemed themselves at their KaposvĆ”r ArĆ©na to defeat VC Strumica from North Macedonia with the same result, 3-0 (25:19, 28:26, 26:24), taking also the decisive Golden Set with the score of 15-11.
Baoqi Yang scored 27 points for the winners, including 5 of his team’s 7 aces and 3 winning blocks, but the players around head coach Slobodan PrakljaciÄ also made the difference in blocking scoring 15 points from this element compared to the rivals’ 8. On the losing side bomber Nikola Gjorgiev scored 26 points but he wasn’t enough.
To take the ticket for 16th finals also Finland’s VaLePa Sastamala, who celebrated a 1-3 (18:25, 13:25, 25:23, 22:25) win in Montenegro at Mediteranski Sportski Centar against the hosts Budva with as many as 18 winning blocks, Lausanne UC from Switzerland who, after a thrilling tie break win in first leg, prevailed at home against Austria’s SK Zadruga Aich/Dob in just three sets (25:22, 25:23, 25:23), Pafiakos Pafos fro Cyprus who destroyed OK Napredak Odžak 3-0 (25:18, 25:22, 25:16) too without major problems, and Estonia’s Selver x Taltech Tallinn who, after winning the two sets they needed to qualify, suffered a tie break defeat in Slovenia, on the field of OK i-Vent Maribor, 3-2 (23:25, 19:25, 25:23, 25:23, 15:13), who performed a comeback led by top scorer Gustavo Cavalcanti (19 points through 50% in attack and 5 blocks), and 15 winning blocks (only 4 for the team from Estonia).
Tomorrow Portugal’s Sport Lisboa e Benfica will face Volley Haasrode Leuven, after a clean 0-3 win in first leg in Belgium.
