France: Round 9 is over. Plessis Robinson stun Montpellier! Cannes, Saint Nazaire, Tourcoing and Chaumont ok

After the advance played yesterday, in which Poitiers defeated Toulouse at tie break, Round 9 of 2024/25 Marmara Spike League has been completed today.
After a day off in previous Round, newcomers Cannes continue to shine with a 1-3 (22:25, 25:18, 23:25, 23:25) win on the field of Paris, despite the hosts’ 11 winning blocks (4 for Cannes), and 26 points from Nik Mujanovic absolute top scorer of the match with 60% in attack and 5 blocks. Haikal Reda top-scored the winners with 16 points to his name, all in attack, through 57%, well supported by Marco Pierotti, and Omar Biglino, who also contributed with 14 and 12, respectively.
3 points also for Tourcoing, who down Tours with the same result, also in four set, partially 25:18, 25:22, 22:25 and 25:18. Pablo Koukartsev was almost unstoppable with 26 points including 1 ace, 3 winning blocks and 61% in attack, while Hermans Egleskalns tallied 23 for the losing side, who collected 6th defeat this season, now at 10th place in the standings with only 7 points, like the team from country’s capital and at +1 from second-to-last Narbonne, defeated by Chaumont in front of their home fans with the score of 0-3 (23:25, 18:25, 22:25).
Able to led the game from start to finish, with the only exception of the very beginning of second set, the winners were led in score by an excellent Mathis Henno, top scorer of the game with 15 points to his name through 68% in attack and 2 winning blocks, well supported by Pierre Toledo, who added 13 including 4 ace and 75% in attack, and Jacob Pasteur, with 9 points through 70% in attack and 2 aces.
To the bottom of the standings with 4 points Plessis Robinson, who celebrated first seasonal win against super favorite Montpellier, 3-2 (25:20, 18:25, 17:25, 25:23, 15:12), after being 1-2 down, and tie break win also for defending champions Saint Nazaire, 2-3 (25:18, 22:25, 21:25, 25:23, 14:16) on the field of Sète. In a very balanced clash, that has been solved only at 14-16 of decisive fifth set, Henri Leon and Luuc Van Der Ent scored 20 points each for the winners (83% in attack including 3 aces and 2 winning blocks) for the latter. 20 points also for Célestin Cardin, all in attack, through 54% in attack, and 19 for Daenan Gyima (4 aces, 4 blocks and an impressive 84% in attack), who led the charge for Sète.
