Challenge Cup: SK Ankara, Sporting CP Lisboa and Volley Näfels last teams qualified for 8th finals!

16th finals of 2024/25 CEV Challenge Cup have been completed today with last three games and last three verdicts.
After a clean straight sets win in Bulgaria in first leg, Turkey’s SK Ankara, better known in world of volleyball as Spor Toto, defeated Neftohimik Burgas with the score of 3-1 (25:19, 25:23, 20:25, 25:17) to progress to the competition’s 8th Finals. Salvador Hidalgo Oliva scored 17 points for the winners, including 3 of his team’s 9 aces, 1 of his team’s 12 winning blocks and 48% in attack, well supported by Thomas Edgar who added 16. Double digit also for Garrett Muagututia and Mustafa Cengiz, with 11 each.
8th finals also for Sporting CP Lisboa from Portugal, who, after a clear home win in first leg, , won also in Czech Republic, at Kladenska Sportovni Hala against the hosts KLADNO Volejbal cz with the score of 2-3 (21:25, 25:18, 18:25, 28:26, 9:15) with 14 winning blocks and all players entered to the court. Enrique Rempel, absolute top scorer of the match tallied 25 points (4 aces, 3 blocks and 51% in attack) for the hosts, but he wasn’t enough.
After a tie break success in Slovakia, Switzerland’s Volley Näfels defeated Rieker UJS Komárno also at home with the same result, 3-2 (21:25, 25:19, 20:25, 27:25, 15:13), to become last team qualified for 8th finals.
In a game with lot of blocks, with 21 points from this element for Komárno and 20, for the winners!
Mariano Giustiniano scored 27 points for Näfels including 7 winning blocks and 40% in attack, the same number of points of Peter Mlynarcik on the other side of the net (38% in attack and 3 blocks).
