Austria: all results of Round 8. Hypo Tirol destroy Ried in big match for first place and the others

Defending champions HYPO TIROL volleyball team remains undefeated on Austrian championship also after Round 8 of 2024/25 Powerfusion VL Men, and after a convincing 3-0 (25:20, 25:17, 25:21) home victory over UVC McDonald’s Ried in big match for second place. The Innsbruck side lost only one set in the championship. Top scorers of the match were Niklas Kronthaler (14) and Arthur Nath (13) for tue winners, and Jonas Mürzl (11) and Markus Berger (10).
For their closest pursuers Ried this was the first league defeat, and the gap to leader HYPO TIROL is now four points.
Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel moved up one place thanks to a 3-1 (25:22, 25:16, 21:25, 25:21) victory over UVC Holding Graz in their Zwettl town hall, and their are now fifth ahead of the Murstadt team.
Paul Nusterer with 19 points and Kornel Kowalewski who added 14 were the most prolific players for the winners, while for Graz Nils Arvay and Arwin Kopschar with 13 each and Johannes Kratz with 11.
VBK Kelag Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt had to admit defeat to TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien 2-3 (25:19, 25:23, 18:25, 23:25, 13:15), but scoring the first point thus leaving the last place in the standings.
The new last/placed team, newcomers Sportunion z+p St. Pölten, will face VCA Amstetten NÖ (8th) on December 6.
After leading 2-0 in sets, the team led by veteran Simon Frühbauer lost in the tie-break. After seven 0-3 defeats in a row, the 2-3 result means a motivational boost for the upcoming tasks. The outstanding player on their team and the best scorer of the match was Michael Klemen with 27 points, while Elias Holzinger scored 15 times. The top scorers of team’s from country’s capital who now have three wins were Jakub Kocvara (23) and Karlo Jakovac (13).
Vice champion TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg secured a 3-2 (28:26, 20:25, 25:16, 22:25, 15:11) home victory over ÖVV Cup winner SK Zadruga Aich/Dob on Sunday to consolidate third place in the standings, while the Lower Carinthians are still fourth.
The top scorers in the Stadtwerke Hartberg Hall were Lukas Glatz (28) for the hosts and Carlos Charles Santana (23) for Aich/Dob.
