Austria: all results of Round 9 – Hypo Tirol indestructible! First win for newcomers St. Pölten

Round 9 of Powerfusion Austrian Volley League has been completed today with the game between former last-placed Sportunion z+p St. Pölten and former second-to-last VBK Kelag Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt, ended with the score of 3-1 (20:25, 25:21, 25:23, 25:21) in favor of St. Pölten, who achieved their first victory in top division at their Kilb sports hall.
As a result, they left the bottom of the standings, led by Jonah Zelenka author of 15 points and Georg Köstler, who added 11, while Noah Neunhoeffer (17) and Michael Klemen (12) were the most prolific players for Klagenfurt. St. Pölten is now three points behind VCA Amstetten NÖ. On December 13th, the Mostviertler will host the newcomers in a delayed game of the 8th round. Klagenfurt remained winless in the first half of the season, earning just one point from the 2-3 home defeat against TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien a week ago.
Although Graz was a strong opponent, HYPO TIROL remains without losing a single point in the first half of the season!
Defending Champions has finished the first half of the regular season with the maximum number of points after a 3-1 (25:23, 25:19, 26:28, 26:24) on the field of UVC Holding Graz, who played without Johannes Kratz, at the start of Round 9 on Friday.
The top scorers in front of around 450 spectators at the Raiffeisen Sportpark were Arwin Kopschar with 17, Benedikt Sablatnig with 14 and Nils Arvay with 12 for the hosts, and for HYPO TIROL Niklas Kronthaler and Arthur Nath who scored 17 each and Kyle Hobus, who added 16.
In a direct clash, last season’s runners up TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg celebrated a 3-1 (27:25, 29:27, 21:25, 25:22) away win on the field of UVC McDonald’s Ried to finish the first half of the season in 2nd place. Top scorers in the Raiffeisen Volleydome were Borys Shukov (19) and Tomasz Rutecki (16) for the hosts, while Lukas Glatz (22) and Tobias Willimek (18) were the most prolific players for the winners.
ÖVV Cup winner SK Zadruga Aich/Dob beat VCA Amstetten NÖ 3-1 (15:25, 27:25, 25:16, 25:22) in their JUFA Arena and remain at fourth place, led in score by Carlos Charles Santana, who tallied 21 points and Bryan Camino Martinez who added 17.
Close the picture Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel, who secured fifth place with a hard-fought 3-2 (25:17, 20:25, 17:25, 25:20, 16:14) victory on the field of TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien.
