Italy: Historical win for Grottazzolina over Monza in a game that opened second half of regular season

Round 12 of 2024/25 Superlega CredemBanca or, if you prefer, Round 1 of second leg, started today with the very interesting match, at least on paper, between second-to-last Mint Vero Volley Monza and newcomers and last-placed Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina, ended in just three sets in favor of the visiting side, who celebrated first historical win in Superlega!
In a resounding victory, Grottazzolina, now with 5 points in the standings, suck the rivals, with 7, into the fight to stay in Superlega!
To make the difference, in addition to be better in key moments of the game, a good performance from the service line, with 9 aces, as well as a great Dusan Petkovic, MVP and top scorer of the match with 18 points to his name. Double digit also for Tatarov and Fedrizzi, who also contributed with 11 points each.
Despite efforts from Monza, including 11 points from Luka Marttila, Grottazzolina maintained control throughout the game
With two games postponed due Club World Championship held in Ûberlandia, Brazil, Round 12 will closed on Sunday, at least for now, with other three games: Allianz Milano will welcome Gioiella Prisma Taranto, Rana Verona will face leaders Sir Susa Vim Perugia while, in the evening, Valsa Group Modena will welcome Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza in the derby.
