France: Poitiers interrupt Tours’ winning streak in advance of Round 15

After a short Christmas break, 2024/25 Marmara Spike League continued today with the advance of Round 15 between Poitiers, in what was Earvin Ngapeth’s last game with the French club, and Tours who, counted all competitions, boasted eight victories in a row.
At least prior to this game, won by the home team with the score of 3-2 (25:22, 17:25, 30:28, 14:25, 15:10) in front of more than 5000 volleyball fans!
In a thrilling five-set showdown, Earvin Ngapeth stealing the spotlight in his emotional final match at the Arena Futuroscope, with a a win that helps Poitiers secure their fourth-place standing.
Ngapeth, who will join Turkish club Fenerbahçe in January, delivered a performance to remember with 22 points to his name including 1 ace, 2 blocks and 49% in attack.
The double Olympic champion was decisive in attack, defense, and serving, clinching crucial points, including seven in the decisive tie-break through 88% in attack, cementing his status as the hero of the match.
Playing against his former team Tours, where he spent his early career (2008-2011), he proved why he’s considered one of the world’s best. After the match, he even closed the night with a fun rap, leaving the fans with a lasting memory of his time in Poitiers.
Round 15 will close on Sunday, with other 5 games, including the derby between Paris and Plessis-Robinson.
With Nice who had a day off, Montpellier will welcome Narbonne, titleholders Saint Nazaire will face Toulouse, Chaumont will welcome newcomers Cannes, while leaders Tourcoing will face Sète.
