Poland: Round 20 continues – Aluron down Warszawa in big match and fly temporarily to the top! Resovia beat Lublin at tie break

Round 20 of 2024/25 Plusliga or, if you prefer, Round 5 of second leg, continued today with other two games.
Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie down PGE Projekt Warszawa in big match with the score of 3-1 (25:17, 25:20, 19:25, 25:21). After 122 minutes of play, Aaron Russell led the charge with 23 points to his name including 3 of his team’s 11 aces (5 for the rivals) through 56% in attack.
The team from country’s capital made the difference in blocking (11 to 3), while Linus Weber left the court as top scorer with 16 points including 1 ace, 1 block and 54% in attack, but this element wasn’t enough to snatch at least one point.
With this victory, Aluron fly to the top of the standings, at least temporarily, waiting for the match scheduled tomorrow between Jastrzębski Węgiel and Steam Hemarpol Norwid Częstochowa.
Meanwhile, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów down BOGDANKA LUK Lublin at tie break, 3-2 (21:25, 25:22, 23:25, 25:15, 15:13) in a nail-biting showdown. Down 1-2 in sets, Resovia rallied to claim victory led by Bartosz Bednorz, who scored 27 points, also earning MVP honors for his all-around brilliance, while Wilfredo Leon led the fight for Lublin with 24 points to his name but couldn’t stop the rivals’ determined surge. This much-needed win lifts Resovia’s spirits after recent struggles and keeps their season hopes alive.
Round 20 will continue tomorrow with other three games: after a stop in previous round, current leaders and defening champions Jastrzębski Węgiel will welcome Steam Hemarpol Norwid Częstochowa, PSG Stal Nysa will face Indykpol AZS Olsztyn while, in the evening, Ślepsk Malow Suwałki will face PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów.
