CEV Cup: Ziraat prevail over Guaguas at tie break in last game of playoffs first leg

In a game that closed first leg of 2024/25 CEV Cup Playoffs played in Spain, at Centro Insular de Deportes, Turkish powerhouse Ziraat Bank Ankara struggled more than expected to prevail over the hosts Guaguas Las Palmas, winning the game only after a hard-fought 2-3 (26:24, 27:29, 15:25, 25:19, 9:15) after as many as 134 minutes of play.
Matt Anderson led the winners with 20 points through 57% in attack, 1 block and 2 aces, closely followed by Paolo Zonca and Bedirhan Bülbül, who added 18 and 17 points, respectively.
Francisco Bezerra top-scored the hosts also with 20 points, and his team will face again Ziraat next Wednesday in Turkey to try to snatch next stage’s ticket.
