Round 21 of 2024/25 Plusliga or, if you prefer, Round 6 of second leg, continued today with other two games, both ended at tie break.
In first one, ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle celebrated a 2-3 (25:21, 22:25, 27:25, 15:25, 12:25) on the field of PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów, outclassing the rivals above all in blocking, scoring 12 points from this element compared to the hosts’ 4, and from the service line, with 9 aces to 3. MVP Bartosz Kurek led the charge with 21 points to his name through 57% in attack and 1 block, closely followed by Rafał Szymura who added 20 including 3 aces, 3 blocks and 50% in attack and Igor Grobelny, with 18. The victory further solidified ZAKSA’s title contention, while Bełchatów suffered their fourth straight loss, dropping to eighth in the standings.
Away win also at tie break for BOGDANKA LUK Lublin, who performed an epic comeback on the field of Ślepsk Malow Suwałki who wasted a 2-0 lead, appearing poised to clinch the fourth set, holding a 20-15 advantage.
The winners overcame a shaky start, closing the game with the score of 2-3 (25:23, 25:21, 18:25, 23:25, 17:19). Wilfredo Leon’s brilliance in serving turned the tide, forcing a decisive tie-break, with Kewin Sasak earning MVP honors for his 66% attack efficiency and two blocks. Both scored 23 points, while Bartosz Filipiak left the court as top scorer with his 26 points for the home team.
After a Monday of rest, Round 21 will close on Tuesday with last two games: Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will welcome leaders Jastrzębski Węgiel while, in the evening, PGE Projekt Warszawa will face Barkom Każany Lwów.
