Final Four Coppa Italia – today start the battle for title!
2 min readThe excitement grows up with the top four teams in Italy are ready for the 47th edition of the Del Monte® Coppa Italia in Bologna!
The semifinals, scheduled today, January 25, at Unipol Arena, will see reigning champions Sir Susa Vim Perugia defend their title (won last season after beating Vero Volley Monza in final) in first semifinal against Rana Verona, while Itas Trentino will face Cucine Lube Civitanova in a big classic of Italian volleyball.
Perugia eliminated in just three sets Valsa Group Modena in quarterfinals, while Verona, at fourth place at the end of Superlega first leg, eliminated Gas Sales BluEnergy Piacenza at tie break.
This is the 43th clash between Perugia and Verona, with 35 successes for the first one, compared to the rivals’ only 7!
Itas Trentino, second in regular season, who eliminated Cisterna in four sets in quarterfinals, will face Civitanova (who earned the ticket for semifinals after a hard-fought 3-2 against Milano) in their game No.102, with 55 wins for Civitanova to 46. But this game will be also a remake of recent semifinal of Club World Championship, won by Trento in just three sets.
And what about the competition?
Modena leads the all-time records with 12 Coppa Italia titles, followed by Lube with seven, although their last triumph was in the 2020/21 season!
Returning to the Final Four after a short absence, the Civitanova-based club is eager to make a statement.
Cuneo, Parma, and Treviso each hold five titles, while Perugia, the reigning champions, have claimed four titles all in recent years (2023/24, 2021/22, 2018/19, 2017/18).
Trentino, on the other hand, boast three titles (2012/13, 2011/12, 2009/10), while Verona, making their first-ever Final Four appearance, hopes to create history with a debut victory.
