Italy: Round 20 is over – Verona sweep Piacenza. Win also for Padova, Perugia and Civitanova

After two advances played yesterday, won by Itas Trentino and Cisterna Volley Round 20 of 2024/25 Superlega CredemBanca or Round 9 of second leg has been completed today.
In one of the games that opended volleyball Sunday, Rana Verona delivered a commanding performance, sweeping Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza 0-3 (16:25, 17:25, 21:25) on the road and climbing to fourth place in the standings. Star player Noumory Keita led the charge with 17 points to his name, while MVP Konstantin Abaev orchestrated the offense brilliantly. Verona controlled the rhythm from the start, showing efficiency in attack and resilience in defense.
Meanwhile, Sonepar Padova back to the win celebrating a great 3-2 (23:25, 25:22, 25:18, 22:25, 15:6) over Valsa Group Modena, continuing to fight to stay in Superlega.
Marko Sedlacek left the court as top scorer with 26 points to his name through 64% in attack, also earning MVP award, while Vlad Davyskiba top-scored Modena with 20 points through 55% in attack.
Sir Susa Vim Perugia continue their winning streak taking down Allianz Milano 3-1 (25:22, 23:25, 25:22, 25:19) in one of the last home games of regular season. The hosts showed strength in serving with 12 aces as well as a solid defense at the net with 12 winning blocks. However, the big highlight of the day was Oleh Plotnytskyi’s full return to the court, playing the entire match, tallied 19 points, fired 6 aces, and also earned MVP honors, while captain Simone Giannelli was instrumental in setting up plays even adding 8 points to his name.
Close the picture the success of Cucine Lube Civitanova over Gioiella Prisma Taranto 3-1 (17:25, 25:11, 26:24, 25:22), with as many as 16 winning blocks (10 only in second set), and with Mattia Bottolo top scorer and MVP of the match with 20 points through 52% in attack, 5 blocks and 2 aces. Double digit also for Petar Dirlic (17), who replaced injured Adis Lagumdzija, and Barthlemy Chinenyeze (11). Among the visiting side, Fabrizio Gironi scored 15 points, followed by Filippo Lanza and Tim Held who added 10 each.
Superlega will continue with two midweek games, both delayed games of Round 1 of second leg, postponed due Club World Championship. On Wednesday Itas Trentino will welcome Cisterna Volley while, on Thuraday, Sonepar Padova will face Cucine Lube Civitanova.
