Italy: Trento destroy Cisterna in a delayed match of Round 12

In a delayed match of 2024/25 Superlega CredemBanca Round 12 or, if you prefer, Round 1 of second leg, postponed due Club World Championship, Itas Trentino dominated Cisterna Volley with a clean 3-0 sweep (25:17, 25:15, 25:19), climbing to the top of the standings together with Perugia with 51 points. The European champions extended their winning streak to nine, remaining unbeaten in the second half of the season.
The winners showcased superior in blocking, scoring 13 points from this element, as well as strong defense, and efficient counterattacks, led by top scorer Alessandro Michieletto, who left the court with 18 points to his name, Daniele Lavia, who added 13, and Bela Bartha, MVP of the match with 11 points. Cisterna, struggling in all aspects, saw its four-match winning streak end, but remains in playoff contention.

“We played an effective match in every aspect, continuing our strong form from Monza. Winning three crucial points to reach the top is fantastic. I’m thrilled with my second MVP award in Italy,” said middle blocker Bela Bartha.

Guillermo Falasca, head coach of Cisterna, added: “Trento played an excellent match with strong defense and serving. We lacked the fighting spirit needed to compete. Now, we focus on our next challenge against Allianz Milano.”

Tomorrow, also for Round 12, Sonepar Padova will welcome Cucine Lube Civitanova.
